Early breakfast... we are supposed to do two landings today.... Danco Island and Wilhelmina Bay.
As if we had known, we skipped breakfast and stayed in bed
with hot chocolate...
The first landing was cancelled due to heavy storm. The chief
of staff, Cheryl, announces up to 42 knots of wind, asking us to
stay inside. Here, the cheerful announcement.
Luckily weather conditions improved and after a change of plans, we had a very interesting visit in Neko Harbour, passing some impressive icebergs on the way.
... crossing our sister ship, the Akademik Ioffe
It is still cold and windy, but the weather is improving. We even get a full rainbow!
We arrive in Nekko Harbour...
.. a raft of red penguins fight their way against the wind uphill
The climb uphill was rewarded by this view!
Meanwhile, the kayakers returned as, due to the bad weather, one of the kayaks turned upside-down.
All of a sudden, I am not so sure the kayaking we registered for is a good idea...
Back to the ship... oh, and it’s happy hour at our Swiss/French friends’ cabin.
